What the Project Taught Me
I too, have dreams. Unfortunately for so many like myself, doubt often creeps into the mind. Becoming a sports medicine M.D. would be a dream come true for me. At times however, I worry about the process of actually completing this enormous goal. This auto - ethnography has showed me that one must not fear the future. Doing so might cause you to rid yourself of your dreams.
Thanks to this auto - ethnography, my dream came back to life. I learned that many individuals, fear their dream and therefore settle. Settling is something that I completely object. Settling, in my opinion does not allow you to use your talents and mind to their fullest. Though settling might mean security, it does not mean happiness.
Chris and Cerise clearly do not wish to settle. Their dreams are obviously not the most secure, but they are fields that they absolutely adore. Hong also does not wish to settle but will if the price is right. Fortunately for Hong, business at Emory University not only interests him greatly but is also quite secure. My three interviewees have very different interests and views but all share one thing in common. They all wish to live happy and fulfilling lives. They all understand that the decisions they make now will determine their happiness for the rest of their lives. Thus, one can understand the anxiety that these pressures bring. "Deciding," whether one is positive their future or not is not an easy task.
