College is a time for individuals to grow as people and truly find their selves. Thus, many students come into college very confused, frightened, and anxious. Students realize that they are on the verge of starting their adult life. To make a career decision straight out of high school can be very intimidating and in certain cases ludicrous. If one is yet to find their self as a person, then how are they expected to make such a decision? Millions of collegians face this decision with trepidation every year.
As an undecided student, I have thought about my future more than anything else throughout college. I thought I was alone and often felt like I was behind. Upon attended Emory University, I gradually came to the realization that there were numerous students in the same predicament as me. The more people I met, the more I recognized the amount of undecided students surrounding me.
When asked to come up with a topic for my second auto ethnography, I immediately thought of a project on undecided students. I am intrigued on what goes on in the minds of other students that are undecided. I am curious to know if they feel panicked or understand that being undecided is completely normal. I plan to use my research, which will consist of several sources and three interview subjects, and juxtapose different students.
My goal is to find a conclusion with as much credibility as possible. I want to develop an auto ethnography that will help clarify the reasoning behind students choosing to be undecided.
